Instructors

Meladee Kirton

Meladee Kirton is a vocal and piano coach at Invicta Vox. She has been teaching for 19 years and loves working with kids (adults too)! Along with teaching private music lessons, she has also spent some time working as a substitute teacher for K-8 grades, and has worked as a speech therapy assistant. She has spent years volunteering in community group singing time for preschool and elementary age children, and loves to make learning music fun! As a teenager, she worked at a preschool, and, when her kids were young, she ran a home-based, small, but very hands-on, supplemental preschool. She has a Masters Degree in Music History with a Performance emphasis, as well as a BA in Vocal Performance from the University of Utah. Meladee is also a dedicated mother of two (three if you count her puppy!), who enjoys home cooking, gardening, herbs, hiking, fishing, camping, boating and spending time with both her immediate family and her ridiculously large extended family.

Brianne Crismon

Brianne is the newest Coach to join the Invicta Vox Team! She has been taking voice lessons for 8 years and has been training in the Invicta Vox Songwriting & Artist Development program for 3 years. She has 6 years of choral experience, has competed in multiple solo & ensemble competitions, and was the 2019-20 Alta High School Choir President. In 2018, she was the New York City – World Strides Choir Tour Maestro Award Winner. She has also sung the National Anthem at the Salt Lake City Bee’s games and Utah Jazz games. Brianne has been in the Invicta Vox Coach Mentor program for 1 year, and she is so excited to be the Assistant Coach in the homeschool program! She enjoys baking, camping and spending time in the great outdoors, especially Utah’s National Parks. Brianne will be attending the University of Utah as a Freshman this fall.

Class Performances

We will have a class performance at the end of each semester. This is a wonderful opportunity for the kids to share everything they have learned with their families! Performances will be held during regular class times. There will be a Holiday Performance on Dec 15, and a Spring Performance on April 27.

In the event that social distancing protocols do not allow for an audience, we will live stream the show so friends and family can watch it in real time. We will also professionally film it for you to have as a keepsake!

HOW WE ARE HANDLING COVID-19:

At INVICTA Vox, we want to be sure that we are giving our students an amazing in-person class experience, while still maintaining social distancing protocols proposed by the state of Utah. We want our children to have fun social interactions and enjoy learning together with our amazing coaches and their classmates. We want to encourage and nurture the special relationships that children develop through sharing music. We will soften our distancing requirements when Utah State lifts the qualifications for COVID protocols. Here are some of the things we will be doing to keep everyone growing together while keeping everyone safe:

  1. We ask that all instructors and students wear face shields in class. If you do not have a face shield, we will provide face shields that will be sanitized after every class.
  2. Every student will have their own colorful “music rug” for our drum circles, singing time and crafts. The rugs will be evenly spaced apart and allow for children to have their own space.
  3. Each student will have their own supplies that only they will use. We will provide them with pencil bags, crayons, packets, lap boards and recorders. (Yes, we will be learning the recorder!)
  4. All shared instruments such as drums and keyboards will be sanitized before and after every class.
  5. We are limiting the class size to 10 students so we can space everyone out.
  6. We ask that parents/guardians do not come into the classroom. You are welcome to come into the lobby to drop your child off.
  7. We ask that your child does not attend class if your child or anyone in your family is sick. We will provide take home packets for your missed classes.
  8. Drinks will not be provided. Your child is welcome to bring their own water bottle if they need it.
